Sweet and Sour Beer Wings with Habanero and Mango

Making delicious wings at home is possible and easy with this sweet and sour sauce wing recipe. The magic of these wings lies in the sauce, which is made with habanero mango jam and a touch of stout beer, giving it a thick consistency and lots of flavor. If you want it even thicker, use double stout beer and enjoy them accompanied by fried habanero pepper.

  • 4 tablespoons butter, for the sweet and sour sauce
  • 1 cup beer, stout for the sweet and sour sauce
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, for the sweet and sour sauce
  • 2 tablespoons green onion stalks, for the sweet and sour sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoons onion powder, for the sweet and sour sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Habanero chile, for the sweet and sour sauce
  • 1 cup Mccormick® mango and habanero jam, for the sweet and sour sauce
  • 1 cup flour, for the wings
  • 1 teaspoon paprika, for the wings
  • 1 tablespoon cumin, for the wings
  • 1 teaspoon salt, for the wings
  • 1 teaspoon pepper, for the wings
  • 1 egg, for the wings
  • 1/2 cups cow's milk, for the wings
  • 1 cup flour, for the wings
  • 1/2 cups potato flakes, for the wings
  • 20 chicken wings, (cooked)
  • vegetable oil, for frying the wings
  • Habanero chile, fried

  • For the sweet and sour sauce: in a small pot over medium heat, melt the butter, add the stout beer, garlic, green onion, onion powder, habanero pepper, McCormick® mango and habanero jam, cook for 10 minutes, or until it reduces and has a semi-thick consistency. Let it cool and set aside.
  • For the wings: in a bowl, mix the flour, paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, egg, and milk. Place the wings in this mixture and set aside.
  • Mix the flour and potato flakes, then coat the wings in this mixture.
  • In a small pan with oil over medium heat, fry the wings, place them on paper towels, and set aside.
  • Mix the wings in a bowl with the sweet and sour sauce and serve garnished with fried habanero.
