Fit Arepas

This recipe is often used by those of us who have certain healthy eating habits. It's great for breakfast. And even better accompanied by a good coffee.

  • 1/2 cups oats, ground
  • 2 tablespoons corn masa flour
  • 1 pinch salt 1 pinch salt

  • chicken, shredded and stewed, for filling
  • asadero cheese, for filling
  •   egg, scrambled, for filling egg, scrambled, for filling

  • Mix the ground oats, the two tablespoons of corn flour, and the salt.
  • Add the water little by little while stirring until you form a moldable dough. Then shape it into an arepa and place it in the pan. Cook for 5 minutes on each side over low heat.
  • Cut them in half and fill with shredded stewed chicken, melting cheese, or scrambled eggs.
