Oriental Chicken Meatballs

This fried meatball recipe is a new way to enjoy them, with a completely different flavor from the usual meatballs. This dish is a good option for a meal to take to work, as its practicality and size make it easy to transport. Pair them with spicy sauce, soy sauce, and even enjoy them as your favorite snack.

  • 2 cups ground chicken
  • 1/4 cups onion, finely chopped for the meatballs
  • 1/4 cups celery, finely chopped for the meatballs
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder , for the meatballs
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch, for the meatballs
  • 1 egg, for the meatballs
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce, for the meatballs
  • salt , for the meatballs
  • pepper , for the meatballs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs, for the meatballs
  • vegetable oil , for frying
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter , for the sauce
  • 1 cup hot sauce, (it can be wing sauce)
  • 1/2 cups orange juice, for the sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey, for the sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar , for the sauce

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch, for the sauce

  • Mix in a bowl the ground chicken with onion, celery, garlic powder, soy sauce, cornstarch, egg, and soy sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Gradually add the breadcrumbs while stirring until you have a manageable mixture. Using your hands, form the chicken meatballs. Fry in enough hot oil. Drain and set aside.
  • In a small saucepan with melted butter, pour in the hot sauce, orange juice, honey, and rice vinegar; season with salt and pepper, mix, and cook for a few minutes. Add the cornstarch while stirring continuously and keep over heat until thickened. Cool and set aside.
  • Serve the meatballs in a takeout container, accompany with the spicy sauce, celery, and carrot.
