Meatballs with Rosemary in Tomato Sauce

  • 230 ground beef
  • 230 ground pork
  • 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary, fresh, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cups tomato sauce, store-bought

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, rosemary, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
  • Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper.
  • Mix well with your hands until everything is incorporated.
  • Divide the mixture into 12 balls, each about 1/4 cup of the mixture.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Brown the meatballs, turning them occasionally until they are brown, about 10-12 minutes.
  • Add the tomato sauce.
  • Wait for it to boil and reduce to medium heat.
  • Cover and cook for 8-10 minutes until the meat is well cooked.
  • Serve with white rice or spaghetti.
