Mongolian Beef

  • 1 kilo flank steak milanesa, in strips
  • 1/4 cups cornstarch
  • 1/4 cups vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cups soy
  • 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons ginger, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chile flakes
  • 1 cup green onion, cut into medium pieces, only the green part
  • sesame seeds
  • white rice, steamed

  • Place the meat on a tray and sprinkle with cornstarch until well covered.
  • Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat, cook the meat for 5 minutes or until browned. Set aside.
  • Add the ginger and garlic to the same skillet, fry for 2 minutes, then add the soy sauce, brown sugar, and water. Cook for 5 minutes or until the sauce reduces.
  • Add the meat and let it cook for 2 minutes. Then add the green onion, mix and set aside.
  • Serve on a wide plate and decorate with sesame seeds. Accompany with steamed rice.
