For the butter cookie dough: Mix flour, sugar, butter, and salt with a mixer or food processor or with clean hands. Add the egg yolks and vanilla. Mix until you have a smooth and lump-free dough.
On a floured surface, knead and form a ball. Store in the refrigerator in a resealable bag for about 2 hours.
Roll out the dough taken from the refrigerator onto a wax paper. Place another wax paper on top and flatten it with a rolling pin until it is about 4 mm thick. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180º C and take the baking tray out of the fridge. Cut each of the pieces for the walls of the house using a template and a knife. Separate each piece by at least 1 cm. Use a cookie cutter to make the front window and any other pieces you want to have. Break the translucent candy and place it inside what will be the windows.
Bake for 10-15 minutes. The time depends on each oven; take the cookies out when the edges turn brown and let them cool.
Prepare the frosting. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and start adding the powdered sugar gradually. Separate and color using liquid food coloring in the colors you need.
Using a pastry bag with tip no. 2, start decorating each of the pieces with the white frosting. Use the frosting as glue to stick the candies.
Assemble the house and add finishing touches like snow, a gummy path, etc.
