Christmas Cookie House Recipe

I’ll show you how to prepare and assemble a cookie house. I use the butter cookie recipe but you can change it to make gingerbread or others.
Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 cups wheat flour
  • 2/3 cups sugar
  • 250 grams unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 caramel, translucent
  • gummies, and Christmas candies

Medium
  • Oven preheated to 180° C
  • For the butter cookie dough: Mix flour, sugar, butter, and salt with a mixer or food processor or with clean hands. Add the egg yolks and vanilla. Mix until you have a smooth and lump-free dough.
  • On a floured surface, knead and form a ball. Store in the refrigerator in a resealable bag for about 2 hours.
  • Roll out the dough taken from the refrigerator onto a wax paper. Place another wax paper on top and flatten it with a rolling pin until it is about 4 mm thick. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 180º C and take the baking tray out of the fridge. Cut each of the pieces for the walls of the house using a template and a knife. Separate each piece by at least 1 cm. Use a cookie cutter to make the front window and any other pieces you want to have. Break the translucent candy and place it inside what will be the windows.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes. The time depends on each oven; take the cookies out when the edges turn brown and let them cool.
  • Prepare the frosting. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and start adding the powdered sugar gradually. Separate and color using liquid food coloring in the colors you need.
  • Using a pastry bag with tip no. 2, start decorating each of the pieces with the white frosting. Use the frosting as glue to stick the candies.
  • Assemble the house and add finishing touches like snow, a gummy path, etc.
