Tangerine Salad with Sesame Vinaigrette

  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar, for the vinaigrette
  • 1 teaspoon mandarin orange juice, for the vinaigrette
  • 1/2 teaspoons Maggi seasoning sauce, for the vinaigrette

  • 1/2 cups sesame oil, for the vinaigrette
  • 3/4 cups vegetable oil, for the vinaigrette
  • 2 cups butterhead lettuce, (leaves)
  • 1 cup chicken, grilled and cut into strips
  • 1 serrano chile, sliced
  • 3/4 cups tortillas, fried and cut into thick strips
  • 1 1/2 cups mandarin orange, in wedges
  • 1/2 cups almonds, sliced
  • avocado, cut into cubes
  • sesame seeds, candied for garnish

  • For the vinaigrette, mix the apple cider vinegar, tangerine juice, Maggie seasoning, salt, and pepper; add the sesame oil in a stream while whisking with a balloon whisk, then add the vegetable oil in the same manner. Check the seasoning and set aside.
  • Mix the lettuce, chicken, serrano pepper, tortilla, and tangerine; add the vinaigrette and garnish with avocado and candied sesame.
