Traditional Christmas Buñuelos

Don’t think twice and make these Christmas buñuelos; they are even richer and crunchier when you make them at home.

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • vegetable oil, to fry the buñuelos
  • sugar, to coat the buñuelo
  • cinnamon, to coat the buñuelo

  • Blend the flour with the sugar, salt, baking powder, vanilla, water, oil, and eggs. Gradually add the milk and whisk until you obtain a homogeneous mixture without lumps. Set aside.
  • Dip the buñuelo mold into the hot oil and fry it well until the buñuelo is golden. Drain off the excess oil.
  • On a flat plate, mix the sugar and cinnamon. Roll the buñuelos in this mixture and use a spoon to coat them perfectly. Serve in a basket.
