With this recipe you can prepare an Apple Pie with Crumble that is completely different from the traditional recipe, the result is a delightful apple treat with a crunchy layer.
Sift 2 cups of flour with salt 3 times, add the butter and mix with your fingers until it has a sandy appearance, gradually add the water by tablespoons until a manageable dough forms, roll it out with a rolling pin and cover a pie mold, then prick the bottom and sides with a fork, set aside.
The apples are washed, peeled, and cored, sliced thin, and mixed with one cup of sugar. They are placed on the pie crust, then the half and half, eggs, and liquid cream are beaten well and poured over the apples in the pie crust.
For the Topping:
In a bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of sugar, the butter (at room temperature), vanilla, and cinnamon, and mix with a fork until a smooth, manageable dough forms. Place it between two pieces of plastic and roll it out to the appropriate size to cover the mold, place it like a lid over the apples (removing the plastic) and bake at 180 °C for about 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
