Birthday Chocolate Cake

This is the classic chocolate birthday cake that is prepared with a chocolate bitumen. It is very simple to make and you will be surprised by its flavor. Prepare this delicious recipe, it will be the best gift of the birthday boy.

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 113 grams semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon cider vinegar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips, semisweet
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream, at room temperature

  • Preheat the oven to 375ºF.
  • In a saucepan mix sugar, chocolate, butter and water over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally until everything is incorporated. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Meanwhile, sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  • Mix the milk with the vinegar in a small bowl.
  • Grease a round cake mold with butter and sprinkle with flour.
  • When the chocolate has cooled a little, add the milk mixture and the eggs. Stir well and add the dry ingredients (flour, etc). Once it is well incorporated, add the vanilla and stir.
  • Put the mixture on the prepared mold. Bake until a chopstick comes out clean, between 30-35 minutes.
  • Let it sit for 10 minutes when it comes out of the oven and unmold it. (Be very careful because the cake can break, be careful to remove it).
  • To prepare the bitumen melt the chocolate sparks in a bain-marie. Let them cool a little and add 1/4 cup of the sour cream. Stir and continue adding 1/4 cup until it has the desired consistency and flavor.
  • You can decorate the cake with the bitumen or cut it in two and put bitumen in the center.
