Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Prepare two pans, greasing and flouring them.
In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients; the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
In a different bowl, add the butter and with an electric mixer, beat until it is smoother and a little lighter in color. Add the eggs one by one and mix. Add the vanilla.
Add one cup of the dry ingredient mixture and let it mix, then add half a cup of milk and let it mix. Repeat this process until you finish with both mixtures.
Divide the batter into two pans, filling them about 3/4 full. Bake the cakes for 30 to 35 minutes. Insert a toothpick into the cake and check that it comes out clean.
Let it cool for 15 minutes, run a knife around the edge of the pan and flip it out to make it easier to remove.
Decorate your cake with the frosting of your choice.
