Cardamom Cookies

Delicious cookies made with cardamom, the Indian spice used in cookies and cakes during Christmas.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoons cardamom powder
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cups almond paste
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cups orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons whole milk

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • In a food processor, mix the flour, powdered sugar, baking powder, cardamom, and salt.
  • Add the almond paste and butter and mix until fully integrated.
  • Add the orange juice and oil and mix until the dough is fully combined. The dough should have the consistency of cookie dough.
  • Divide the dough in half and work with one half first, then the other. Knead a little, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • With a rolling pin on a clean surface sprinkled with a little flour, flatten the dough. Use a cookie cutter to cut out cookies in star shapes or any shape you prefer.
  • Place the cookies on a baking sheet previously greased with vegetable spray and bake for 8 minutes or until lightly golden.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool before decorating with the frosting.
  • To make the frosting, mix the powdered sugar with the milk. Use a spoon to decorate the cookies with a little frosting.
