3/4 cups sugar, divided amount
3 tablespoons tapioca, MINUTE Tapioca
3/4 cups sparkling water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
4 cups cherries, sweet dark cherries, pitted
1 cup gluten free flour mix, all-purpose baking mix
1/4 teaspoons cinnamon powder
1/3 cups low-fat milk
1/4 cups almonds, PLANTERS Sliced Almonds

Preheat the oven to 375F.
Reserve 2 tablespoons of sugar for later use.
Mix the remaining sugar and tapioca in a large saucepan.
Stir in the water and lemon juice.
Let it boil.
Add the cherries; cook this for 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
Pour the mixture into a lightly greased 8 or 9-inch square baking dish.
Combine the baking mix, reserved sugar, and cinnamon in a medium bowl.
Add the milk; stir until a soft dough forms.
Drop heaping spoonfuls of this over the hot fruit mixture.
Top it with the nuts.
Bake the dessert for 28 to 30 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
Let it cool slightly.
