1/2 cups toasted pecans, chopped
1 3/4 cups flour
1/4 cups cocoa powder
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoons salt
1/2 cups chocolate chips
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cups unsalted butter, melted and at room temperature
1 1/2 cups banana, very ripe, mashed
1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and place the oven rack in the center.
Grease a loaf pan (23 x 13 x 8 cm) with butter. Dust with flour.
Place the walnuts on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly toasted. Let cool and chop.
In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, cocoa, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
In a medium bowl, mix the mashed bananas, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla.
With a spatula, gradually mix the dry ingredients (flour, etc.) with the banana mixture.
The mixture should remain lumpy (do not over-mix).
Pour the mixture into the pan and bake until the cake is slightly golden, about 55-65 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let cool on a rack.
