Chocolate Cake Frosted with Chocolate

A quick recipe to prepare chocolate cake topped with chocolate frosting. You can add jam in the middle.

  • 3/4 cups unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cups cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 4 ounces semisweet chocolate
  • 1/2 cups whipping cream

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
  • Grease and flour a round cake pan.
  • Mix the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  • With an electric mixer on medium-high speed, beat the butter and 1 cup of sugar until fluffy and light.
  • Add the eggs one at a time.
  • Add the vanilla extract.
  • Reduce the mixer speed to low, and add the flour in two parts, alternating with the sour cream, starting and ending with flour.
  • Pour the mixture into the greased cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  • Let cool for 10 minutes and unmold.
  • Prepare the frosting: put the heavy cream in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Place the chocolate in a medium bowl. When the cream boils, pour it over the chocolate and stir. Let it thicken for 2-3 minutes.
  • Place the cake on a wire rack and cover with chocolate frosting.
  • Serve the chocolate with whipped cream.
