  • 6 tablespoons cocoa, Hersheys
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup cow's milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon liquid vanilla
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3/4 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 glass rum , or milk
  • 1 tablespoon liquid vanilla
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa, sifted

  • Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Using a mixer, cream the 250 g of butter, add the 250 g of sugar and the 5 egg yolks one by one until you have a smooth paste.
  • Sift the dry ingredients: 250 g flour, 6 tablespoons cocoa, and 3 tablespoons baking powder. Incorporate into the butter mixture.
  • Alternating with the cup of milk and the tablespoon of vanilla. Finally, beat the 5 egg whites to stiff peaks and fold them into the mixture.
  • Divide the mixture into 2 greased and floured round pans. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out dry.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes, then unmold and let cool completely.
  • For the frosting: Beat 3/4 of a stick of butter until creamy, add sifted powdered sugar with cocoa, 1 egg, milk or rum, and a tablespoon of vanilla.
  • Place a cake on the platter, spread with frosting, and put the other layer of cake on top. Frost the sides and finally the top, decorating it nicely.
