Chocolate Cake without Milk and Eggs

This cake recipe contains no milk or eggs. It is ideal for someone vegan or with allergies to dairy and/or eggs.

  • pam cooking spray
  • 1 cup water, hot
  • 1/2 cups cocoa, natural cocoa powder (not sweetened)
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 2 teaspoons white vinegar

  • Grease a 20 cm rectangular pan with cooking spray and dust with cocoa powder.
  • Mix the hot water with the cocoa powder in a small bowl until well combined.
  • In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt and form a well in the center. Add the cocoa mixture in the center along with the oil and vanilla. Whisk until well combined and smooth. Add the vinegar and mix well. Pour into the prepared pan.
  • Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 30-35 minutes.
  • Run a knife around the edges of the pan and unmold. Let cool on a wire rack.
