Chocolate Dead Bread

On this Day of the Dead, prepare a delicious chocolate-flavored dead bread. Fluffy and soft on the inside, brushed with butter and coated in sugar. Don't miss out.

  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1 dry yeast, over
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 180 grams margarine
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon orange blossom essence
  • 1/4 cups cow's milk
  • 1 egg, for brushing
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup sugar, for sprinkling

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Place the flour, cocoa, sugar, and yeast in the mixer. Beat until combined.
  • Add the eggs one by one and continue beating. Gradually add the rest of the ingredients and keep working the dough until you obtain an elastic and homogeneous dough.
  • Place in a bowl and cover with a moist Pétalo® paper towel and let it rest for 30 minutes or until it doubles in volume.
  • Shape the breads and place them on a baking tray. Let them ferment for 30 more minutes. Brush with egg and bake for about 25 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter and roll in sugar.
