Chocolate Halloween Cookies

Baking cookies will always be a fun activity for kids. Even better if they are Halloween-themed and can be given to their friends.

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup butter, at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 170 grams chocolate, for baking
  • gel food coloring, various colors
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt well. Beat the butter and sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy. Incorporate the eggs and vanilla extract. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients. Add the previously melted chocolate, continue mixing. Divide the dough in half, cover each half with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • Roll out half of the dough on a floured surface; you should get at least 1 cm thickness. Use cookie cutters to shape the cookies. Roll out the dough as many times as necessary and reshape the figures. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, keeping them spaced apart so they don’t stick together. Do the same with the remaining dough.
  • You should bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the cookie feels firm. Let cool on a baking sheet. Decorate with gel food coloring or fondant.
