Chocolate Polvorón with Walnut

  • 5 cups flour, 1 kg
  • 3/4 cups icing sugar, 200 g
  • 2 1/2 cups vegetable shortening, 500 g
  • 1 1/2 cups Mexican chocolate, 300 g, grated
  • 1 cup sugar, 200 g
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon REXAL® baking powder, 15 g
  • 1/2 tablespoons baking soda, 7 g
  • 1 cup walnuts, 200 g, finely chopped

  • In a mixer with the paddle attachment, add the flour, powdered sugar, vegetable shortening, sugar, eggs, Rexal® Baking Powder, and baking soda. Beat until all ingredients are combined and you have a smooth and homogeneous dough.
  • Place the dough on cling film and wrap it into a roll approximately 10 cm in diameter, then place on a board and freeze for 20 minutes.
  • Cut slices 2 cm thick and place them on a baking tray, sprinkle with walnuts and bake at 180 °C for 15 minutes. Place on a cooling rack and let cool.
  • Serve and accompany with a glass of cold milk.
