Double Delight Brownies

  • 6 tablespoons margarine, melted (first layer)
  • 1/2 cups flour, (first layer)
  • 1/4 teaspoons baking soda, (first layer)

  • 1/4 cups margarine, melted (second layer)
  • 3/4 cups sugar, (second layer)
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder, (second layer)

  • 2/3 cups flour, (second layer)
  • 1/4 teaspoons baking powder, (second layer)
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt, (second layer)
  • 1/4 cups cow's milk, (second layer)
  • 1/2 teaspoons vanilla essence, (second layer)
  • 1/2 cups walnuts, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon margarine, melted (frosting)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa powder, (frosting)
  • 3/4 cups icing sugar, (frosting)
  • 1 tablespoon cow's milk, (frosting)

  • First layer: Preheat the oven to 170°C. Mix the oats with the sugar. Add the margarine and set aside.
  • Mix the flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add to the oat mixture and stir well. Pour the mixture into a lightly greased pan of approximately 20 cm. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven.
  • Second layer: Mix margarine, sugar, and cocoa powder. Beat the eggs. Set aside. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add to the cocoa mixture along with the milk and vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly. Add the nuts.
  • Using a spatula, being careful not to touch the hot edges of the pan, pour the second layer over the first layer and return to the oven. Bake for 25 more minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool.
  • Chocolate frosting: Mix the margarine and cocoa powder, then slowly add the sugar and milk. Continue stirring until the mixture can be spread easily. Spread the frosting over the baked brownies and cut them into squares of approximately 5 cm.
