Irresistible Brownies

  • 1/2 cups unsalted butter
  • 113 grams bittersweet chocolate
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon liquid vanilla
  • 1/4 cups unsalted butter , for frosting
  • 28 grams bittersweet chocolate, for frosting
  • 2 cups powdered sugar, or more for frosting
  • 1 egg, for frosting
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons liquid vanilla , for frosting
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice , for frosting
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped for frosting

  • Preheat the oven to 176°C.
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter and chocolate or place it in a double boiler. Let it cool.
  • Add the sugar and eggs one by one to the chocolate mixture, mixing very well after adding each egg. Add flour and vanilla, and mix well.
  • Spread the mixture in a greased and floured square baking pan of approximately 22 x 33 centimeters. Bake for about 20 – 25 minutes, until the brownie starts to pull away from the sides of the pan. The brownies should look moist.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool.
  • Lemon Frosting: Melt the chocolate and butter in a saucepan or in a double boiler. Add 2 cups of powdered sugar and mix well.
  • Add the eggs, vanilla, and lemon juice. Continue mixing. Stir in the pecans.
  • The frosting will harden as it cools. If you want the frosting to be thicker, add more powdered sugar.
  • Cover the brownies with the frosting and cut into squares of approximately 3 x 5 centimeters.
