Traditional Chocolate Brownies

  • 1/2 cups butter
  • 56 grams bittersweet chocolate
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 1 cup pecans
  • 1/4 cups margarine, very softened (frosting)
  • 1 pinch salt, (frosting)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence, (frosting)
  • tablespoons evaporated milk, as needed (frosting)

  • Preheat the oven to 175 °C.
  • Put the butter and chocolate in a double boiler until melted. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Beat the eggs and gradually add the sugar.
  • Add the chocolate mixture and beat well. Set aside.
  • Mix flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add to the previous mixture. Beat well.
  • Add vanilla extract, corn syrup, and walnuts. Mix very well.
  • Pour the mixture into a previously greased square pan of approximately 20 cm and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven when the edges of the brownie start to pull away from the pan.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes and unmold. When they are almost cool, cover with the cocoa frosting.
  • Once the frosting hardens, cut into squares of approximately 4 cm.
  • For the frosting: Mix the margarine, salt, and vanilla extract.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of sugar and cocoa, mixing very well.
  • Alternately, add the remaining sugar and evaporated milk until the frosting reaches the desired consistency.
