  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 100 milliliters vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 160 milliliters cow's milk
  • 180 grams flour
  • 60 grams cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 120 milliliters water, warm
  • 2 cups maraschino cherries, cut in half
  • 80 milliliters cherry syrup
  • 3 tablespoons cherry liqueur, (kirsch)
  • 1 cup cherry jam
  • 4 cups chantilly cream
  • 200 grams chocolate, grated
  • cherries, for decorating

  • Preheat the oven to 180° C.
  • In a mixer, beat the eggs until fluffy, add the sugar and continue beating, then add the vegetable oil, vanilla essence, and milk.
  • With the help of a sieve, add the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa, baking powder, and beat for an additional 2 minutes. Add the hot water and beat until combined.
  • Pour the cake mixture into a previously greased and floured mold. Bake for 20 minutes, let cool, and remove from the mold.
  • With the help of a serrated knife, slice the cake into 4 parts, until you have 4 circles.
  • In a bowl, mix the cherry syrup with the liqueur.
  • On a rotating base, place a layer of cake and using a brush, soak the bread with the previous syrup.
  • Add a bit of cherry jam and spread it over the cake, add the whipped cream, and place the cherries. Add the other cake layer and repeat the previous process.
  • With the help of a spatula, cover the entire cake with whipped cream.
  • Decorate the sides of the cake with chocolate shavings.
  • Place the remaining whipped cream in a piping bag with a star tip, decorate the top, and finish with cherries.
