Cocada (Coconut Dessert)

Cocada is a traditional beach dessert where we mix grated coconut with milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and condensed milk. This recipe is not only very delicious but also very easy.

  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 1 cup cow's milk
  • 2 cups grated sweet coconuts
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cinnamon powder

  • Bring the cup of milk to a boil with the cinnamon stick in a pot over medium heat. Add one and a half cups of grated coconut and let it cook until the coconut softens and the milk is absorbed.
  • Add the condensed milk to the mixture and stir with a wooden spoon constantly to prevent sticking, for 15 to 20 minutes over medium heat.
  • Meanwhile, in a skillet, toast the half cup of remaining coconut, adding the ground cinnamon.
  • Remove the cocada from the heat and form balls or a tart. Roll the balls or decorate the tart with the remaining coconut.
