Cocoa and Walnut Brownies

They are delicious and also great for Valentine's Day, as you can use heart-shaped or square cookie cutters as they are traditionally made.

  • cooking spray
  • 150 grams butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cups cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cups flour, plus one tablespoon
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped

  • Place the oven rack at the bottom and preheat to 325 ºF.
  • Line an 8 x 8 square pan with aluminum foil.
  • Melt the butter until it turns dark brown, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat, immediately add sugar, cocoa, water, vanilla, and salt.
  • Mix perfectly.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes. (the mixture will be hot)
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.
  • When the mixture is thick and shiny, add the flour and mix.
  • Beat at least 60 times.
  • Incorporate the walnuts.
  • Transfer to the pan.
  • Bake for 25 minutes.
  • Let cool on a rack and cut into 16 squares.
