Coffee Cake

We can agree that coffee is one of the greatest delicacies that nature has given us, and we humans have used it in many ways, and this is another way to enjoy it.

  • 1/2 liters whole milk
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 170 grams sugar
  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee
  • 200 grams whipping cream
  • 40 grams icing sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 3 sheets unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 packages María cookies

  • Separate a small cup of milk in which we will dissolve the cornstarch; and the rest we will bring to a boil along with the vanilla.
  • Beat the sugar and egg yolks, gradually add the instant coffee and milk, then the sheets of gelatin that we have soaked in cold water.
  • Place the pot on the heat and, stirring the sides and bottom constantly, bring to a boil. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Once off the heat, strain into a saucepan and keep stirring until it starts to set. At this point, fold in the whipped cream.
  • Pour into a cake mold. Let it set. For decoration, use organic flowers like a pansy or chocolate-covered strawberries, and stick Maria cookies around the edges.
