Profiteroles with Coffee Ice Cream

Profiteroles are an Italian dessert that will impress all your guests. This recipe fills them with coffee ice cream and accompanies them with a delicious chocolate sauce.

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cups water
  • 1/4 tablespoons salt
  • 3/4 cups flour
  • 3 eggs
  • coffee ice cream
  • 1 cup whipping cream , (for the chocolate sauce)
  • 1/2 cups sugar , (for the chocolate sauce)
  • 200 grams semisweet chocolate, (for the chocolate sauce)
  • 1/2 teaspoons liquid vanilla , (for the chocolate sauce)

  • Prepare a baking sheet by chilling it in the freezer, then place 18 scoops of coffee ice cream and freeze until serving the dessert.
  • Preheat the oven to 210 degrees Celsius with the rack in the center.
  • Place the butter, salt, and water in a pot and heat over medium heat until the butter melts. Add the flour and mix well with a wooden spoon. Pour into a deep dish.
  • Add the eggs one by one and incorporate with an electric mixer.
  • Place the dough in a piping bag and make 18 profiteroles on a baking sheet. Each profiterole should be approximately 3 cm wide and 1 cm high.
  • Bake for 25 minutes or until slightly golden. Insert a toothpick into each profiterole and return to the oven to dry with the door slightly open for another 5 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
  • To make the sauce, melt the sugar over medium heat until it becomes caramel, add the cream, mix, and heat until the caramel has dissolved.
  • Remove from heat, add the chocolate and vanilla, and mix until the chocolate is melted.
  • Serve the profiteroles by cutting them horizontally and placing a scoop of coffee ice cream inside. Drizzle one or two tablespoons of chocolate sauce over the profiterole.
