In a bowl, beat the 150 g of butter together with the 200 g of sugar and the zest of half a lemon. You should achieve a light and fluffy texture. Without stopping to beat, add the eggs one by one, beating well before adding the next egg.
Add the 50 ml of milk, beat until everything is well combined.
In another bowl, sift the 250 g of flour, the teaspoon of baking powder, and slowly incorporate it into the mixture. Stir until you achieve a homogeneous batter.
Divide the batter into the molds and bake at 180°C for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the batter rises and is firm. Remove the cupcakes from the oven and let them cool completely.
For the frosting: Place a pot over low heat and add the two tablespoons of lemon juice, you can use lemon extract if you prefer. Add the 250 g of butter and stir until melted. Add the 250 g of powdered sugar and remove the pot from the heat.
Add the yellow food coloring and stir until the entire frosting is colored. Let the frosting cool and thicken enough to decorate the cupcakes.
Place the frosting in a piping bag and decorate the cupcakes.
