Preheat the oven to 180 degrees or 350 F. Place cupcake liners on a baking tray.
In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a mixer, cream the butter with the sugar until it has a fluffy consistency and is pale yellow. Add the eggs one at a time, beating until fully incorporated and scraping the sides with a spatula. Add the vanilla.
Alternately, add the flour mixture and the milk to the mixer, ensuring everything is well combined.
Divide the mixture among the cupcake liners in the trays, filling them 3/4 full.
Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Cool for 5 minutes and decorate as desired.
