  • 2 1/2 cups wheat flour
  • 1/2 cups cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup raw sugar
  • 2 2/3 cups almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2/3 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cups bittersweet chocolate, melted
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup vegetable margarine, for the frosting
  • 2 cups icing sugar, for the frosting
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence, for the frosting
  • 1 1/2 cups cocoa, for the frosting
  • raspberries, frozen, for decoration
  • strawberries, halved, for decoration
  • pistachios, chopped or diced, for decoration

  • Preheat the oven to 180° C.
  • In a bowl, sift the flour with the cocoa, salt, baking soda, and sugar.
  • In another bowl, mix the milk with the vinegar, oil, and vanilla using a whisk. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients and add the melted chocolate and chocolate chips.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased and floured 20 cm diameter cake pan, bake for 50 minutes, remove from the oven, and cool.
  • For the frosting, cream the margarine in the mixer, add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cocoa, and beat until you achieve a smooth and creamy frosting.
  • Cover the cake with the frosting, and decorate with frozen raspberries, strawberries, and pistachios.
