  • 2 cups frozen strawberry, medium to large (between 18 and 20 strawberries)
  • 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chip
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable shortening

  • Gently rinse the strawberries and dry them on paper towels.
  • Line a cookie sheet or tray with waxed paper.
  • In a 1-quart frying pan, melt chocolate chips and shortening over low heat, stirring frequently.
  • Remove from the fire.
  • Dip the bottom half of each strawberry into the chocolate mixture; let the excess drain in the pan.
  • Place them on the tray or tray lined with waxed paper.
  • Refrigerate uncovered about 30 minutes or until the chocolate is firm, or until ready to serve.
  • Store them covered in the refrigerator so that the chocolate does not soften.
