Mix in a mixer the butter with the vegetable shortening and powdered sugar for 5 minutes.
Add the vanilla, egg, salt, and slowly pour in the flour. Mix until a smooth dough forms.
Divide into 2 parts: reserve one and to the other, add the cocoa. Mix well until perfectly combined and refrigerate both for 15 minutes before using.
Sprinkle flour and roll out the two doughs separately. Roll out to 1 cm thick and place the doughs on top of each other. With the help of your hands, roll the doughs together, place on a tray, and freeze for 15 minutes.
Place the roll on a cutting board and cut slices 1 cm thick with a knife to create the polvorones.
Place the polvorones on a tray lined with wax paper and bake for 20 minutes at 180 °C.
Serve in a basket and accompany with milk.
