Chocolate Spiral Polvorones

  • 1 cup butter, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup vegetable shortening, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 5 cups flour
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa

  • Mix in a mixer the butter with the vegetable shortening and powdered sugar for 5 minutes.
  • Add the vanilla, egg, salt, and slowly pour in the flour. Mix until a smooth dough forms.
  • Divide into 2 parts: reserve one and to the other, add the cocoa. Mix well until perfectly combined and refrigerate both for 15 minutes before using.
  • Sprinkle flour and roll out the two doughs separately. Roll out to 1 cm thick and place the doughs on top of each other. With the help of your hands, roll the doughs together, place on a tray, and freeze for 15 minutes.
  • Place the roll on a cutting board and cut slices 1 cm thick with a knife to create the polvorones.
  • Place the polvorones on a tray lined with wax paper and bake for 20 minutes at 180 °C.
  • Serve in a basket and accompany with milk.
