  • To start preparing the homemade butter cookies, take a bowl and mix the butter with the sugar. You can do this by hand with a spatula; you will see how the butter lightens, forming a very creamy dough.
  • The next step is to add the eggs and vanilla. Continue stirring with the spatula until they are fully integrated. If it's too difficult to knead the butter cookies by hand, you can use an electric mixer, but you shouldn't have any problems.
  • Set the bowl with the dough aside and sift the flour along with the baking powder. This step is very important because it ensures that there are no lumps and we obtain a smooth and homogeneous dough.
  • Gradually add the flour to the mixture and stir until everything is fully integrated. The next step will be to wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about half an hour. Ideally, form one ball or several small ones.
  • After this time, you can take the dough out of the fridge. To work, sprinkle a little flour on a flat surface and roll it out with a rolling pin. Make the cookies as thick as you want and cut them using a cookie cutter in your favorite shape or with a glass to make round butter cookies. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  • Place the cookies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake for 15 minutes, or until golden. Butter cookies bake very quickly, so you should keep an eye on the oven in case they need less time. If your oven has the option, set it to heat from both the top and bottom.
  • When they are ready, take the baking tray out of the oven. You will notice that the cookies are a bit soft, but don't worry because that's normal. It’s best to let them cool on a wire rack; you'll see that as they cool, they become crispy. Just be careful not to burn yourself, so always use a spatula to remove the freshly baked cookies from the tray.
