Mix the butter, sugar, brown sugar, and baking powder with a mixer; add the egg and vanilla; finally, add the flour.
Divide the dough into 2, mix one half with the chocolate. Make a cylinder of white dough and one of brown dough (that are roughly the same width and length), cover with wax paper and refrigerate for 2 hours. Once they are cold, cut the cylinders into quarters (lengthwise) and reassemble them alternating vanilla and chocolate (to form the pattern seen in the photo), cover with wax paper again and refrigerate for another half hour.
Preheat the oven to 190ºC. Cut the dough into slices, placing cookies with a 5 cm gap. Bake for 10 minutes. And they are ready.
