  • Sift the flour onto a clean, flat surface (work table); set aside a bit of flour, about a handful, to give the dough consistency or for the rolling pin. Add a pinch of salt and incorporate the vegetable shortening until a paste forms.
  • Gradually incorporate the beer, continuing to knead until you obtain a soft dough.
  • Roll out the dough and cut it into 30 equal pieces, shaping them into cylinders. Roll them out with a rolling pin until you get thin ovals.
  • Grease a baking sheet with a little vegetable shortening and flour.
  • Place a small amount of jam in the center of each oval; you can use your favorite one. Fold the oval in half and pinch the edges to seal the empanada well so that the jam doesn't leak out during baking. Repeat this process with all the ovals.
  • Bake at 180°C for 25 minutes; they don't need to be very golden. In a bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon.
  • Remove the empanadas from the oven and toss them in the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Let them cool on a rack and enjoy.
