Did you know that pastes are of English origin? They arrived in Hidalgo through the miners who worked in the area. Today, there are many varieties of flavors, both sweet and savory, so don’t miss this sweet pastes recipe, it’s finger-licking good!
1 cup Strawberry and guava jam McCormick® flavors of Mexico, for the filling
1 cup cream cheese, for the filling
1 egg, for brushing
sugar, for sprinkling
strawberries, for serving

Place the flour and butter in a bowl. Use a fork to break the butter and sugar until it resembles sand. Then, gradually add the cold water and knead with your hands until a smooth and homogeneous dough forms. Finally, cover with plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. Set aside.
Roll out the dough on a clean surface with a rolling pin until it reaches a thickness of 5 mm. Cut out circles of dough using a 12 cm diameter cutter. Set aside.
Fill with McCormick® Strawberry and Guava Jam from the flavors of Mexico and cream cheese. Close the pastes with your hands and make a fold to seal them completely.
Place the sweet pastes on a baking sheet and brush with egg using a pastry brush. Then, sprinkle with sugar and bake at 180 °C for 30 minutes. Place the pastes on a rack, let them cool, and set aside.
Serve the sweet pastes with strawberry and guava, place them in a basket and accompany with a pot of coffee.
