Tamal Ring

This tamal canario ring is a different way to make those delicious traditional tamales from Mexico, which are prepared with rice flour, butter, and egg. Don’t miss this tamal canario ring, it is delicious, fluffy, and very easy to make.

  • 1 cup butter, soft, 200 g
  • 1/2 cups sugar, 100 g
  • 5 eggs
  • 500 grams Rice Flour Three Stars®
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • yellow food coloring
  • 2 cups raisins
  • corn husk, for tamal, hydrated
  • pineapple jam, for accompaniment

  • Beat the butter and sugar in a bowl with a hand mixer for 3 minutes or until the mixture is fluffy. Then, add the eggs one by one until fully incorporated.
  • Incorporate Tres Estrellas® Rice Flour, baking powder, vanilla, and raisins. Finally, add a little yellow food coloring and mix the ingredients well with a spatula.
  • Pour the tamal canario mixture into a ring mold previously greased with butter and dusted with Tres Estrellas® Rice Flour and spread it in the mold. Cover with tamal leaves and wrap with aluminum foil.
  • Heat a pot with a little water to create a steaming effect inside, approximately 1/8 of the total amount of the pot. Place the tamal ring mold and cook over medium-high heat for about 40 minutes.
  • Once cooked, remove the tamal ring and let it cool to room temperature. When ready, unmold.
  • Serve the tamal ring and accompany with pineapple jam.
