Tropical Cheese Skewer

Desserts can also be made on the grill, and this recipe for panela cheese and guava paste skewers is the delicious proof. To prepare them, you will need to brush them with a mixture of olive oil, a little salt, and pepper. Pair them with coffee and your favorite sweet cookies after a family barbecue.

  • 500 grams guava paste
  • 2 tablespoons salt, smoked
  • 1/2 teaspoons black pepper, freshly ground

  • Prepare your Weber® grill for low direct heat (250° - 350 °F or 121° - 175 °C). Soak the Weber Original Bamboo Skewers in water for 30 minutes before grilling.
  • Cut the cheese and guava paste into 2 x 2 cm cubes. Brush them with olive oil and season with half of the salt and all the pepper.
  • To assemble the skewers, alternate a cube of cheese and another of guava paste. Repeat until the skewers are complete.
  • Place the skewers on your grill over low indirect heat with the lid closed. After 7 minutes, check the skewers; if the cheese is not firm, lower the temperature of your grill. Continue grilling the skewers until the cheese starts to sink onto the grill, approximately 30 minutes in total. Remove from the grill.
  • To serve, accompany with the remaining salt and your favorite cookies.
