Figs in Syrup and Lemon

This recipe for figs in syrup with a hint of lemon is exquisite and very easy to prepare; the results are excellent. They make a great dessert, or you can use them in other preparations.

  • 2 kilos fig
  • 2 liters water
  • 1 kilo sugar
  • 4 lime peels

  • Wash the unpeeled figs.
  • Boil for 5 minutes until they release their sap, then remove them.
  • Prick the figs with a toothpick so they absorb the syrup later.
  • In a large pot, add 2 liters of water with the sugar and lemon peels. Then place the pricked figs.
  • Cook on low heat for two hours or until achieving the syrup consistency.
  • The figs should look translucent. They can be served with walnuts or vanilla ice cream.
