Figs in Syrup and Lemon

This recipe for figs in syrup with a hint of lemon is exquisite and very easy to prepare; the results are excellent. They make a great dessert, or you can use them in other preparations.

2 liters water
1 kilo sugar
4 lime peels

Wash the unpeeled figs.
Boil for 5 minutes until they release their sap, then remove them.
Prick the figs with a toothpick so they absorb the syrup later.
In a large pot, add 2 liters of water with the sugar and lemon peels. Then place the pricked figs.
Cook on low heat for two hours or until achieving the syrup consistency.
The figs should look translucent. They can be served with walnuts or vanilla ice cream.
