Easy Cheese Flan

  • 1 cup sugar, for the caramel

  • 2 cups double cream cheese
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • caramel, for decoration

  • For the caramel, pour the sugar into a saucepan over medium heat, continuously stir with a wooden spoon; it will gradually begin to turn brown and become liquid. When it's sufficiently liquid and thick, remove from heat.
  • Grease a baking dish with butter. Pour the hot caramel, spreading it all over the dish and set aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 190 °C.
  • Blend the double cream cheese with the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, cornstarch, vanilla, and evaporated milk until you get a homogeneous mixture. Pour the mixture over the caramel-coated dish, cover with aluminum foil, and place it on a tray with water. Bake in a water bath for 50 minutes at 190 °C. Cool down.
  • Unmold and decorate with caramel.
