Homemade Table Chocolate Flan

Flan is a very simple dessert, with easy ingredients, as you will only need milk, eggs, cheese, a little cornstarch, and vanilla to make the flan mixture.   • 4 Mexican chocolate tablets
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup double cream cheese, in cubes
  • 1/2 cups condensed milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup sugar, for the caramel
  • butter, for greasing the mold
  • chocolate, grated for decorating
  • obleas, cajeta for decorating
  • leaves peppermint, for decorating

  • In a saucepan, heat the table chocolate with the milk; keep on the heat until the chocolate melts. Then blend together with the double cream cheese, condensed milk, eggs, cornstarch, vanilla, and evaporated milk. Set aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 190 °C.
  • For the caramel, heat the sugar in a saucepan over medium heat; it will gradually start to turn brown and become liquid, do not stop stirring with a wooden spoon; when it is sufficiently liquid and thick, remove from heat.
  • Grease a baking mold with butter, pour the still hot caramel; spread it all over the mold. Pour in the mixture you blended earlier, cover with aluminum foil, and cook in a water bath for 50 minutes at 190 °C in the oven. Chill.
  • Unmold and decorate with grated table chocolate, cajeta wafers, and mint leaves.
