Apples Covered with Chamoy

  • 3 Golden Delicious apples
  • 1/4 cups chamoy
  • 1 1/4 cups tamarind pulp
  • 1 1/4 cups chile powder
  • 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cups lime juice

  • Soak the skewers in lemon juice for 10 minutes. Set aside.
  • In a small pot, heat the tamarind pulp over medium heat and let it reduce by half. Add the sugar and let it caramelize for 5 minutes. Mix with the chamoy and chili powder until a dough forms. Set aside.
  • Insert the skewers into the apples and set aside.
  • Place the dough between two plastic bags and roll it out with a rolling pin.
  • Cover the apples with the chamoy dough.
  • Add more chili powder, decorate, and serve.
