Green Tea Tamales

Try these delicious green tea tamales, a tasty and low-sugar recipe as it is sweetened with Splenda. A very original dessert that everyone will love.

  • 200 milliliters water
  • 2 tablespoons green tea
  • 150 grams vegetable shortening
  • 3/4 cups Splenda, Granulated
  • 1/2 cups golden raisins
  • 2 tablespoons spearmint, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 1 banana leaf, cut into squares of 20x20 cm
  • 3/4 kilos dough, made with green tea

  • Mix green tea with SPLENDA® Granulated, lemon zest, mint, and water until combined.
  • Heat the mixture in a pot, add the lard and the dough.
  • Using a spatula, mix until combined, remove from heat.
  • Toast the banana leaves directly over the stove flame.
  • Spread a bit of dough in a square shape on the surface of the banana leaf and close with a fold.
  • Put one liter of water in the steamer and leave over medium heat for 30 minutes.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.
