Guava in Syrup

In Mexico we love guava, in this season we like to eat this delicious fruit as much as we can and prepares this delightful dessert with light syrup based on a concentrated sugar with water, spiced with cinnamon and star anise. You only need 6 ingredients to have a delicious dessert full of vitamin C.

  • 1 kilo guava
  • 3 cups water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cups piloncillo, grated
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 star anise pods

  • In a small bowl place the guavas with water, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon and star anise, when it is boiling, reduce the heat to a minimum and cook for about 1 hour, taking care to fill with water if necessary.
  • Remove from heat and cool, serve in glass cups with a little syrup. Decorate with a slice of cinnamon and a leaf of mint. Enjoy
