Guava in Syrup

We love guava in Mexico, this season take advantage of this delicious fruit and prepare this rich dessert or light syrup made from a sugar concentrate with water, spiced with cinnamon and star anise. You only need 6 ingredients to have a delicious dessert full of vitamin C.

  • 1 kilo guava
  • 3 cups water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cups piloncillo, grated
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 star anise pods

  • In a small pot, place the guavas with water, sugar, piloncillo, cinnamon, and star anise. When it comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and cook for about 1 hour, making sure to add water if necessary.
  • Remove from heat and cool, serve in glass cups with a little syrup. Decorate with a cinnamon stick and a mint leaf. Enjoy.
