Guava in Syrup

In Mexico we love guava, in this season we like to eat this delicious fruit as much as we can and prepares this delightful dessert with light syrup based on a concentrated sugar with water, spiced with cinnamon and star anise. You only need 6 ingredients to have a delicious dessert full of vitamin C.

Ingredients

10 portions
  • 1 kilo guava
  • 3 cups Water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cups piloncillo, grated
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 star anise

Preparation

In a small bowl place the guavas with water, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon and star anise, when it is boiling, reduce the heat to a minimum and cook for about 1 hour, taking care to fill with water if necessary.
Remove from heat and cool, serve in glass cups with a little syrup. Decorate with a slice of cinnamon and a leaf of mint. Enjoy

PRESENTATION

Keep the guavas in a jar and serve in a glass with a little syrup, cinnamon stick and a fresh leaf of mint.

TIPS

You can dip your guavas in water and lime, this in order to make the shell more hard and consistent, remember that if you do this you have to rinse them with plenty of water to remove excess lime.
