1 cup flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon lard
1/2 cups cow's milk
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup piloncillo, grated, for the syrup
1/2 cups water, for the syrup

For the dough, mix the flour with the baking powder and the lard. Gradually add the milk until you obtain a dough.
Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
Roll out the dough with a rolling pin to ½ cm thick and cut into squares with a knife. Set aside.
In a small pot, heat the oil and fry the dough squares in small batches to avoid overflowing, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and set aside.
For the syrup, cook the piloncillo with water until you obtain a thick syrup, about 10 minutes.
Coat the muéganos with the syrup and shape them using two spoons, let them dry for at least 30 minutes. Serve.
