King Cake Cupcakes

An original way to represent the king cake. Soft and fluffy vanilla cupcakes decorated with guava paste and sprinkled with sugar. You'll love them!

  • 1 1/2 cups Great Value® whole-wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Great Value® plain salt
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter, at room temperature (135 g)
  • 3/4 cups Great Value® granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cups Great Value® whole milk
  • 1/4 cups fruit paste, cut into strips
  • 1/4 cups fruit paste, green, cut into strips
  • 1/4 cups fruit paste, yellow, cut into strips
  • 4 tablespoons Great Value® granulated sugar, for sprinkling

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • In a bowl, mix the flour with the baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  • Cream the butter with the sugar in the mixer. Add the eggs one by one while continuing to beat. Add the vanilla.
  • Add the dry ingredients alternating with the milk and beat until well combined.
  • Pour the mixture into a cupcake mold with liners, filling them up to 3/4 of their capacity. Decorate with the strips of guava paste and sprinkle with sugar.
