Put the sugar in a saucepan or in the same container where the flan will be made and heat it until it melts to a dark brown color (this is the caramel for the base of the flan).
(You can use cajeta instead of sugar; this is optional)
Put all the other ingredients in the blender until completely mixed.
Pour the blender mixture into the container or flan mold with the caramel. Cover and cook in a water bath for about 35 minutes.
To know if it's ready, insert a toothpick or utensil, and if it comes out clean, it's done.
Let it cool, unmold, and refrigerate for at least 5 hours for a firm consistency and to be completely cold.
