Turrón Flan

No treat tastes more like Christmas than turrón. Turrón is a traditional Spanish candy with a soft texture that is mainly prepared with almonds.   • 1/2 cups sugar, for the caramel
  • 1/3 cups water, for the caramel
  • 2 cups cow's milk
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/4 cups sugar
  • 300 grams turrón, 2 tablets
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup almonds, sliced, for garnish
  • 2 sprigs peppermint, for garnish

  • Preheat oven to 338 °F.
  • In a pot heat sugar and water. Cook over low heat until caramel is obtained, for about 7 minutes without stirring.
  • Line a flan pan with caramel. Cool.
  • For the flan: Combine milk, eggs, sugar, turrón tables, and vanilla in a blender. Blend until smooth.
  • Pour mixture into caramel-lined flan. Bake in a water bath for about 1 hour or until cooked through. Cool and unmold.
  • Garnish turrón flan with sliced, toasted almonds and fresh mint.
